About Cades Cove Visitor Center | Cable Mill Historic Area
The Cades Cove Visitor Center and Cable Mill Historic Area are located half-way around the Loop Road. Because of slow moving traffic, it may take over an hour to drive the six miles from the start of Cades Cove Loop Road so plan your time accordingly. The entire Loop Road is 11-miles.
Cades Cove is a secluded valley and one of the most popular destinations in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cades Cove provides opportunities for viewing native wildlife. Bears, deer, coyotes, and ground hogs are among some of the residents of the Cove. Evidence of other past residents such as log cabins and churches can be found at numbered stops on the self-guided driving tour.
With so much to do in Cades Cove – hiking, fishing, biking – the HeySmokies team suggests packing a picnic and plan on spending the entire day in this bucolic valley surrounded by mountains!
