Named for America’s first First Lady, Martha Dandridge Washington, this small town sits on the banks of the scenic Douglas Lake from which it was saved in the 1940s. The downtown area is full of historic buildings and is worth stopping to take a stroll in Tennessee’s second oldest town. If you’re hungry, don’t miss the chance to enjoy a famous Bible Burger from the Tinsley-Bible Drug Store on Gay Street.
