About Metcalf Bottoms
Metcalf Bottoms picnic area, at 1,700 ft. elevation, is a popular location in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Situated along the banks of the beautiful Little River, Metcalf Bottoms is a great place to picnic, fish, tube, hike and just relax and take it easy. Open year-round, Metcalf Bottoms has offers 122 picnic tables with fire pits and restroom facilities. A covered pavilion, seating up to 70, can be reserved from April 10 – October 31 for $20.
Metcalf Bottoms can be reached via Little River Gorge Road; it’s 11 miles from Gatlinburg and about 9 miles from Townsend. Metcalf Bottoms can also be reached from Wear Valley via Wear Cove Gap Road and old state Highway 73.
