Smoky Mountain Travel Advisory
Smoky Mountain travel advisory. Upcoming Single-Lane Closures on the Spur. Great Smoky Mountains National Park maintenance crews will have single-lane closures along the north and southbound Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, beginning June 1, 2020 through Thursday, June 11, 2020 for maintenance operations. The single-lane closures will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, each week.
The park service has temporary single-lane closures along the most heavily-trafficked park roads. The work is conducted on foot including litter patrol, tree removal, string trimming, mowing, shoulder reconditioning, and culvert cleaning. These temporary closures better ensure the safety of workers along winding roadways. The roads will remain open during these times, but motorists should anticipate traffic delays and are asked to reduce speeds and use extra caution.
The following roads remain closed for motorists due to pandemic concerns, but are open for pedestrians and cyclists. Please park responsibly in public areas when accessing these locations:
Abrams Creek Road
Balsam Mountain Road
Cataloochee Road
Elkmont Road
Forge Creek Road
Heintooga Round Bottom Road
Highway 284
Little Greenbrier Road
Rich Mountain Road
Straight Fork Road
Twentymile Road
